The Key To More Customers & Clients š
In today's digital landscape, consumers are bombarded with countless messages and interactions every day, and in a world increasingly filled with automated processes and AI-powered tools, building trust and establishing genuine connections with your audience has become more critical than ever. Weāre all sick of speaking to Skynet, right š¤·š»āāļøš
To stay ahead of the curve, prioritise transparency and authenticity in all business interactionsāfrom marketing to sales. And, of course, a BIG oneā¦ customer support!
By doing so, you can differentiate your business from competitors and build lasting relationships with clients and customers. People like working (and speaking) with people. Funny that! š
Begin With Transparency In Your Social Media Marketing šØš»āš»
In the world of social media, transparency is key to engaging with your audience and building a solid brand presence. Instead of following a cookie-cutter approach that mimics other businesses in your industry, showcase the good, the bad, and the ugly. That means embracing vulnerability and stepping out of whatās comfortable and easy because that's what consumers crave. People are sick and tired of all this corporate and AI customer journey rubbish, give them a real person and youāre already #winning
Give your audience a behind-the-scenes look at your business by sharing the owner's journey, highlighting wins and losses, and responding to cultural moments in a way that aligns with your brand values. Book in callbacks from social media enquires to get them to speak to you in person (or video call works) to define a clear path together.
Adopting a social presence that is unique to your business, you can create a strong brand culture that fosters a sense of connection with your audience and builds a loyal following. Even if itās just a few hundred people, those are real loyal people and worth more than 100K fake people ANY DAY!
Be Upfront About Pricing on Your Website š§
Once your marketing delivers prospective customers to your website, they want to know what purchasing from or working with you will cost. Thatās easy with products, but services can be more complex.
Instead of listing every service and its exact cost, which can overwhelm and confuse potential clients, provide a "starting at" price point. This approach allows them to self-filter based on their budget, saving both parties valuable time. If youād prefer to work to the clientās budgets without any costs stated (like I do) then explain as much as you can but enforce a CTA (call-to-action) for a callback or quotation.
Extend Transparency In Sales š
By setting realistic expectations and being upfront about what you can and cannot deliver, you can attract customers who are the right fit for your business and are more likely to stick with you for the long haul. Donāt oversell aiming for the moon without knowing you can reach their expectations, this is not only a red flag most can see, but youāll just end up ruining your reputation.
During sales calls, donāt obfuscate. Be clear and honest with consumers about the effort and resources required to help your customer achieve success. This will help them understand the value of your services and make informed decisions. Iāve also found giving them advice on two separate options really helps too, for example, āYou can do it this way, but itāll cost more with greater future implicationsā or āYou can do it this way, but it may look less premium with possible future investment implicationsā.
No one likes to āput baby in the cornerā so giving them an option allows them to know youāre...
1 - Not forceful and Mr. Know it all, itās my way or the highway
2 - Youāre giving them the choice to pick and choose whatās best for them
Another example is if you provide marketing services and explain the process, timeline, and deliverables clearly, emphasizing that building a strong online presence is a long-term strategy and results may take time. An EVEN SMARTER approach would be to have this all pre-built (of course in a generic way to reduce admin time) so you can follow things up quicker, showcase contractual agreements, and prop the client faster before they lose interest.
Finally, be honest about the volume of customers or clients you can handle at any given time. The only thing worse than not having enough customers is having too many customers to deliver on your promised service. Look, weāve all been there, but ONLY YOU can manage your time or team so you can judge this yourself but try to set a realistic turnover time and stick to it.
