Learn From Dairy Boy

I love their design LOVE the design of the website, when I say to clients “less is more” this is a clear example of it! And, I must say I LOVE this footer. It is far from standard and really beautiful/clear / tight. It's also incredibly on-brand 💪🏻

Which, not everyone thinks about when they use web designers that aren’t businessmen/marketers too. Off colours everywhere, not on brand and different fonts jarring the user, or, just not a defined focus on areas to convert clients… CTA’S (call-to-actions) which are vital for customers.

However, there are some MUCH lower-hanging fruits for Dairy Boy to attack. As with basically NEARLY EVERY website you visit these days, The CRM capture pops up way too quickly!

Adding a CTA to the homepage hero - cool, do it. I mean, I don’t bother because I want the user to actually enjoy flying around my website, UI is VERY important and If you’ve followed me long enough, you’ll know I DISDAIN (posh word I know) CTA data capture pop-ups! So be aware of your audience and think how you shop online when adding a 3-second “Give me your data so I can spam email you” call-to-action on your websites, please.

The main advice is… Tricks and special details AFTER fundamentals. Let the user have a journey too, that’s important to the sales cycle 📈

Going Visual With North Star

Traditionally, most websites are really more focused on content. You’ll hear your WIX web designer shout down the phone SEO SEO SEO “g̶o̶t̶s̶a̶ h̶a̶v̶e̶ t̶h̶a̶t̶ t̶e̶x̶t̶ f̶o̶r̶ S̶E̶O̶ Y̶a̶’k̶n̶o̶w̶” and yes, that is true. However, did you know that video actually ranks just as good as great text format in terms of SEO? Plus, North Star has done something I truly admire, focusing on the visual journey. If you have a product and want to build a website that’s going to stand out from the crowd, how North Star has done their website is DEFINITELY! How I would build a website for you. Why? Because, with a product, showing it (and I mean visually) is the best way to grab the consumer in.

The best websites are FUN to shop. A surprise moment below the footer? WHY NOT!! So far down that it's almost an Easter Egg 🥚😂

Website Funnel Hacking

There is no better way to study a brand or a business than to behave like a customer. Right?

So, with that in mind, study your website and invest time into making sure it works for you (as a customer) and I can guarantee you’ll see a difference in results. I think we all get carried away with thinking this needs to be here, and that there. Plus, a lot of website designers (Damn don’t shoot me for saying this guys 😂) aren’t marketing guys, so they build a nice website but forget about the functionality or marketing aspects of what the website SHOULD be doing. Me and my team like to build websites as “ solutions ” so we start off by asking what you need from the website, why you need certain things (to build effective marketing tools on the site) plus much more.

So, to summarise before I waffle on…

- Build to focus on the consumer
- Then funnel hack the 💩out of it by thinking of customer-centric solutions to convert them into either Lead (via data) or getting them to call towards an action. For example, a call back etc.
- Finally, test everything! Mainly the journey of the EPIC funnel hacks you have just built. We all love creating stuff, it’s cool RIGHT?! But not every one of the ideas works well the first time, so test it does, because the last thing you want is a LIT website with a great CTA but then find the funnel hack loses the customer.

I used to (before I focus on web solutions) I always got asked, “how do you pick a decent website solution?” And from my knnowledge of working with Google, building search engine software and my ‘white hat’ days within the tech industry etc, I’d honestly… waffle on to everyone almost as I was plugged into the matrix. So… I hear you ladies n gents!
