Affordable Tech To Make Your Videos Brilliant 🎥

Sooooo this weeks isn’t a geek-out newsletter where you’re going to bombard you with technology that you don’t understand, looks complicated to use, and TRUST ME you’re going to have to remortgage your house to afford it. It’s called affordable for a reason 😉

Soooo…You’re scrolling through social, looking at the videos on your feed, and asking yourself “Why don’t my videos look anywhere near that good?” 🤨

The truth is that it comes down to the fact that they’re probably spending more money on better quality equipment to set themselves apart online; which is a smart move considering that there are tens of thousands of videos posted online every day, as it’s becoming increasingly harder to stand out from the crowd.

It pains me to say it… BUT! The barrier to entry level is becoming more affordable for you to invest in a do-it-yourself method of video creation, and I’ve always been an advocate for it when budgets are tight, and you’ve got to get in the trenches yourself.

For under £500, you can get a 4K camera with a built-in gimble, and the ability to instantly switch between landscape and portrait filming. Even I’m blown away, and I’ve been in this industry for over a decade!

2) DJI Microphone Kit 🎤

These are some of the most high-quality, well-built, yet affordable microphones I’ve ever purchased and have only empowered my audio production levels within videos.

You can plug these into either your professional camera or your mobile phone with in-built adapters that connect seamlessly. How cool is that!

3) Nanlite Pavotube V2 🔦

I bought a few of these a few years back for a client production, and they’ve changed the way I create videos for my professional clients. Taking their videos, and my own, to a completely new production level. You can even use them at home for cool lighting setups around your desk too!

They come in all shapes and sizes and connect to your phone seamlessly to cast any colour you’d like. White, warm, cool, or even neon green, multi-colours, the lot. A super cost-effective way to jazz up any video setup to add that extra pro-level.

NOW! Making great videos isn’t always about the technology that you use, I filmed one of my best productions years back for Ferrari on a Canon 70D, but it sure helps to make you stand out with better quality, production level, and a unique video style that viewers will remember.
